Example of Double - Printed Stamp
While a modern multi-station press is printing,
the sheet of web moves continuously, at high speed, through
each of the stations. It is difficult to conceive of a single
color being printed in multiples during this process. Whenever
a press is shut down, or shuts down automatically, for whatever
reason, several checks must be made to ensure that the approved
set-up is continuing. Any paper caught or other wise affected
by the paper jam, dry fountain, broken web, damaged blanket
or plat, etc. is systematically delegated to the garbage
bin. In recent years quite a few pieces of printer's waste
have reached the philatelic market. Many of these have been
bought and sold at high prices. (Unitrade 2002)
I found this in an accumulation of stamps
I bought on E bay. I paid 8c for it and CV is $500.00. Charles
G. Firby Auctions sold one for over $900.00 this year.
