The club is named for Button Gwinnett who
was one of two Georgians to sign the Declaration of Independence.
(Gwinnett County is also named for Button Gwinnett). Gwinnett
was born in England in 1735. He immigrated to the American
Colonies settling first in Charleston, SC and later becoming
a farmer on a large tract of land he purchased on St. Catherine's
Island, Georgia. He was a representative to the Continental
Congress, was instrumental in drafting the Constitution
of the state of Georgia and was a governor of the state.
He died at the age of 42 of wounds sustained in a duel with
his rival, Lachlan McIntosh.
MEETINGS
The club meets on the third Wednesday of
each month at the Lilburn City Hall on Main Street. Meeting
begin at 7:00 PM. Meetings typically include an auction.
